CANDICE MILLER SPEARE lives in Maryland with her husband. When she isn't writing, she volunteers at the Frederick County Sheriff's Office Police Academy. Favorite among her activities is spending time with friends and family. She also likes to garden and make scrapbooks and quilts. She is mom to one daughter, who is married to a sailor in the U.S. Navy. Candice attended Bible College and home-schooled her daughter. Secretary by trade, she's also been a pastor's wife and a music minister. Most recently, she worked at the front desk of a self-storage facility. Serenaded by the chatter of Winston, the African grey parrot, (who is really in charge) Candice writes in a little second story office that overlooks her parents' field of polled Hereford cattle. There, surrounded by reference books about crime, cops, forensics, and psychopaths, she plots suspense scenarios, always keeping a look out for the next idea that will add the perfect twist to her mysteries.
